Glass Corner Desk – Building custom furniture does not have to involve a lot of complicated tools and a lot of time. A simple table, for example, requires little more than a pre-assembled desk base and a large sheet of tempered glass. Glass tables are ideal for home offices, as they provide ample workspace that resists stains and are easy to clean. Select a desktop frame of appropriate size for the space in which you intend to set the table. You can find basic desktop frames online or at the local furniture store.
You can also choose to use an old desk that you already have by removing the top and painting or dyeing the base to make it look new. Measure the width and depth of your desktop frame and decide the largest amount you want the top of the glass corner desk to be. Since the glass is very heavy, it is not advisable to make the top more than a few centimeters longer or wider than the desktop frame because the desk frame may not be able to support it. Wipe both sides of the glass thoroughly with glass cleaner and a paper towel. If the cutting edges of the cup are rough, it is advisable to soften them with fine sandpaper before cleaning the glass.
Apply clear adhesive rubber bumpers to the top edges of the desk frame. The number of bumpers will depend on the size of the table, but at least one stop must be placed at each end and at each corner. Additional bumpers can be placed every 6 inches along the top edges of the glass corner desk frame. Set the tempered glass sheet down on top of the desk frame so that it rests on the rubber bumpers. Adjust the position of the cup so that the frame of the desk is centered below. You may need help lifting and moving the cup for this step. If you do not have a desk stand, you can use a table base.
